We love Bristol! We HATE litter!

We want to help clear beautiful Bristol harbour of litter whilst engaging local people and we are

looking for a team of Change Leaders to join us on this mission.

Who are Change Leaders?

- 16 - 25 year old volunteers

- passionate about improving our waterways and who hate seeing litter in and around the harbour

- keen to learn more about plastics and share knowledge with members of the public at a busy family festival (you are not expected to already be an expert!)

- up for an adventure aboard SeaCycler , our recycled plastic fishing boat, and canoes with our friends from Young Bristol

- available Wed 4th June 5 - 7.30pm for your training session

- available Saturday 14th or Sunday 15th June to volunteer at the Festival of Nature

What does the training session involve?

- meeting at Pooles Wharf (BS8 4RU) for 5pm on Wednesday 4th June

- meeting Jo and learn about the plans for the Festival of Nature and your role as a volunteer

- stepping aboard the legendary SeaCycler to learn about the issue of litter in the harbour

- collecting litter

- exploring what makes an inspirational trip

- hopping in a canoe to explore the harbour, its wildlife and floating habitats

- sorting, weighing and separating the collected litter at Pooles Wharf whilst learning the key facts that you will share with the public

- practicing positive communication about environmental issues

- understanding how to share your message in an empowering and behaviour changing way

What will I be doing as a volunteer?

Change leaders will be:

- signing members of the public onto SeaCycler trips

- communicating with members of the public about SeaCycler and the issue of litter at our information stand

- directing people who are booked on trips and assisting them to get ready for their boat trip as well as welcoming back the returning sailors

- recording all litter collected so we can report to marine organisaitions

- positively promoting how people can get involved and make a difference

Why should I do this?

A staggering 11,300 bags of litter is dropped every single year on just one street in Bristol and on a windy, rainy day that can make its way into the harbour, damaging wildlife and heading out to the Bristol Channel.

We want to turn that tide and prevent marine litter!

So, piece by piece, we will remove litter from the water aboard SeaCycler, our very own plastic litter fishing boat made from 99% recycled single-use plastic.

The Festival of Nature is a great experience and really good fun! We hope you meet new people, challenge yourself, enjoy lots of time on the water and have interesting conversation.

If you are interested please complete the form below, or email Jo@sustainablehive.com if you have any questions before registering your interest.
